Camping and Festing...what are we missing?

A friend of mine and I are getting ready to embark on an annual roadtrip to a Bluegrass/Americana Festival.  I’ve done the camping and festival thing a few times in my life, but I’m curious.  Is there something else we should be bringing?  We’re determined to be uber-prepared to the point of geekishness.

Here’s the list:

  • Tent
  • Hammer – for the tent spikes
  • Yoga mats to line bottom of tent for insulation and to even out rocks, etc.
  • Blanket – for on top of yoga mat
  • Air mattress and/or Sleeping pad
  • Sleeping bags
  • Pillows
  • Flashlight
  • Lantern Flashlight
  • Extra batteries
  • Headlamp – for those late night trips to the porta-potty
  • Baby wipes
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Toilet paper
  • Sunglasses (and maybe a cap)
  • Rubber bands
  • Bandanas
  • Kleenex – travel packs
  • Bug Spray
  • Sun block
  • Small Mirror
  • Towel
  • Wash cloth
  • Napkins
  • Plastic Utensils
  • Polar fleece pants and hoodie for sleeping – because it gets cold at night!
  • Wool hat – just in case it’s that cold
  • Socks
  • Jacket for evening at the Fest
  • Allergy Meds
  • Cooler – we typically stop for beer and ice on the road
  • Stuff for turkey sammiches
  • Wellies
  • Poncho
  • Trash bags
  • Water
  • Phone Charger
  • Ipod – for tunes in the car ride
  • Violin and/or mandolin and/or banjo
  • Hoola-hoop

toothbrush?

I'm a personal fan of cotton balls in a ziploc with some facial toner as a mid-afternoon/between face washes refresher.

It’s a really great site you have here. Thank you for the effort to be so good for us (even though we don`t deserve it) and keep it up.

that stupid towel that dries real fast - shazam #(#(? are great for lots of things - extra strings for the instruments as they cool air and humidity changes can cause older ones to break quickly.

I keep one of those little fold up brush/mirror things with me at all times, along with a nail file (nothing can substitute when you need one), and some advil or other various pain medications for headaches and injuries. I also rarely go anywher without an energy bar. Oh! And you should get some VIA or trader joes instant coffee.

This post made me miss those days when I would go camping with my father. Yeah, you guys should prepare like a first-aid kit, with lots of emergency medicine.
