A friend of mine: I am kind of interested in the pathology. What prompted the desire to begin blogging?
I dunno. I’ve always liked telling stories. Before law school I used to do that via emails with friends, but after school started I didn’t have time to make and send them to everyone so I just started putting them on a blog. I like taking the mundane everyday occurrences in life and fashioning them into something funny, silly, or scandalous. For example, in the article about the one night stand, did I really sleep with the guy or did I just say that I did in order to make the story more interesting to the reader? They’re fun to write. My friends like reading them. They help me organize thoughts and who knows, might even help my writing ability.
Of course, the downside of the blog is that I write everything to be tongue in cheek and some people take it very literally. People who know me are aware of the fact that I’m not that much of a wild child (and not so pompous or flippant), but those who don’t sometimes jump to conclusions based on the writing. I’ve been doing some back-pedaling in regards to this lately, but I think I’m about done. You can only worry about these things so much before you move on.

More creative fooding…
I am not now, nor have I ever been a cook, but I do like watching the cooking shows on PBS during the weekends.
So today I scrounged around a little more and found two pieces of frozen mystery chicken in my freezer. I am not quite sure exactly what type of cuts they were. When thawed, they unfolded into a thin strip with lots of fatty pieces. No doubt this is how they ended up in the freezer. I probably ate one and then decided I didn’t like them.
Anyhow, they didn’t bake up so well a few days ago and as such I decided today to try something different. My education in frying is limited to watching someone dump the fries in the fryer at McD’s, but I figured I’d give it a go. I took a Ziploc baggie and put about a half a cup of pancake batter mix in it along with some Lawry’s salt. Then I shook the chicken in it for a little while and popped the chicken into a frying pan with a little bit of olive oil. My fire alarm went off within minutes. At least I know it works. I did have flour on hand, but I thought that the pancake mix might give it a little extra flavor – it did. My chicken was crispy and had a nice buttery flavor to it.
Afterwards I washed it down with a bowl of Blue Bell ice cream that I had deemed too old just a few days before. I found that the iciness and chalkiness was not as apparent if I scooped it into the bowl and let it melt for a few minutes. Yum-yum.
Today I took a more rigorous inventory. Here’s what I’m left with:
2 cans of Minestrone soup (I hate minestrone so I have no clue why I bought it to begin with.)
1 can of Vegetable soup (which I dislike even more than Minestrone)
1 can French Onion soup
2 boxes of Jello (score! I didn’t know that I had these!)
1 package of peanut butter crackers
¼ jar of peanut butter
3 slices of bread (2 of which are heels/ends)
2 1 containers of yogurt (expiration date 5/29/06)
1 orange
2 grapefruit (one of which is looking a little iffy)
2 cans of tuna (which I might save just in case of nuclear holocaust)
1 taco (I broke down and got a 2 taco combo meal at Taco Cabana last night; ate one taco last night; ate the chips and queso today; the last taco I’m saving for something special.)
The end of the road is near…and right now my house smells like The Varsity.
